Analysis of Mini AA films: Heineken Skyfall & Audi R8 Etron Adverts

Heineken Skyfall Advert

The Heineken Skyfall Advert is a definite contender for a mini AA film. The advert starts off with James Bonds walking down a busy, snowy train platform. I think the location of the platform was in Russia or Siberia because of the weather conditions and the costumes, for example James Bond was wearing a wool, turned up hat that is famously worn in countries around Russia. James Bond is being chased by 2 strong, muscly men. James looks back worried as he rushes along the platform, however Bond accidently bumps into a fellow passenger on the platform wearing exactly or along the lines of the same costume. For example they wore the same hat, coat as well as dark trousers. Also from behind there haircuts look similar when trying to spot someone from a distance. The James Bond look alike notices that some people are chasing him and he rushes onto the train looking anxious. As the man runs down the carriages of the train he comes across many different scenarios, for example:

1.        Runs through a casino

2.       Staggers into what looks like a den for a Russian villain (a typical AA character)

3.       Dances romantically with an extremely glamorous lady dressed in a gown (archetype)

4.       Runs through an ice carriage where all the meat is kept cold

In the last scene he spots James Bond and approaches him. Bond hands him a beer as he spots the two henchman chasing after the lookalike. He then desperately runs off; the two men follow. The final scene is Bond jumping off the train (that is crossing a high bridge) in his parachute. The parachute has a Union Jack on it, this shows he is extremely patriotic of Great British and is proud to be British.

Audi R8 Etron Advert

This advert isn’t as obvious as the Skyfall advert for being a mini AA film. When I watch it, I automatically presume it is a trailer for the Iron Man 3 film that has recently came into cinemas. There are numerous shots of explosions, shooting, Iron man jumping from high buildings and crashing to the hard ground as well as saving American lives. A caption appears half way through saying ‘It’s never a bad day at work’. This caption is almost a play on words; for example his normal day at work is lively, explosive and extremely dangerous. Iron Man doesn’t have a typical, normal day at work compared to the numerous people who go to work every day. Then there is a shot of Iron man getting in a car that appears to be an Audi R8 Etron. This makes it look like this is his everyday car. If it is good enough for Iron Man, it is good enough for anybody and even everybody. Lastly it shows the car driving on a test track looking powerful and fast. It also says at the end ‘Tested by Tony Stark’. Tony Stark is Iron Man.
